Goal Setting

As I sit here and ponder my life's direction, two quotes have stuck out in my eBook readings at ChangeThis...

"The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

"We tend to overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can do in a year." - Common phrase

What are your lofty goals this year? What should be mine ...

I'm still waiting on the whole "immortality through nanotechnology" thing to come through. Is that too lofty?

I think that Trevor should run for President. Free beer for all!

To be honest, lofty goals are a direct indicator of free time. Direct goals with results and some semblance of reward matters more to me than ever.

What do your circumstances dictate? What vein do you ask? Going out and getting plowed works for a lot of people and pretty much pegs the goal of a weekend. Myself, getting home in time to actually see my son is a herioc goal based on the insanity of a startup job.

Why use lofty goal? How about rewarding and memorable? I am so much more satisfied with that approach.

So, what's the deal? You are a force of nature whichever way you lean, whatever you work on, with whomever you are around. Do you need a gianourmous goal to justify waking up?
